A 1969 French original first edition by François Mauriac, marked ÉDITION ORIGINALE. The printing was completed on 18 February 1969 with legal deposit recorded in the first quarter of 1969. Published by Flammarion. The book has an attractive vintage binding: brown leather spine and corners, marbled paper boards, and gilt-stamped spine, evoking an old European study.
