Description

A small French antique missal with richly gilt leather binding and embossed Gothic window and floral panels. The cover shows double gilt rules; inner endpapers bear a continuous gilt plant motif. The pages contain numerous hand-colored figure illustrations and each leaf is framed by different rose, lily and vine decorative borders in a soft Belle époque / late 19th–early 20th-century style. Held as a compact decorative book, the page edges are finished in red and the volume reads as a small objet d'art.
