Description
Published in Paris by Jacques Guérin in 1736, this single volume of Histoire romaine (Volume IX) covers the emperors from 476 to 565, spanning the end of the Western Roman Empire through the Justinian era. The title page notes it is translated from Laurent Echard's English work.
The binding is brown full leather with gilt tooling, raised bands on the spine and a maroon title label. Interior shows classical printer's ornaments and traditional French typography.
